Mountainous area named for judge
Located on the western end of the Minersville Area School District, Reilly Township takes its name from Judge Bernard Reilly.

Formed from Branch and Cass townships in 1857, Reilly has a considerable amount of remote coal lands and forest acreage, including the "Blackwood" section.

Route 209 passes through the township and its two main villages, Branchdale and Newtown.
