Busy borough is at the crossroads of Schuylkill County

Frackville’s location at the intersection of Interstate 81 and Route 61 makes it the crossroad town of Schuylkill County. In downtown Frackville and at nearby Schuylkill Mall and other local sites, shopping, restaurants, miniature golf and many other activities are available.

Frackville was founded in 1852 by Daniel Frack, who opened a hotel and in 1861 set aside part of his land, Girard Place, to develop into a village.

Another settler, Samuel Haupt, purchased an adjoining farm in 1854 and laid out a village called Mountain City. Both areas are now part of Frackville, which became a borough on April 10, 1876.
