Mall, shopping plazas fuel retail trade
One of Schuylkill’s original townships, Norwegian was formed in 1811 from Berks County. Today it shares borders with Pottsville, Saint Clair, Minersville and several townships at the center of the county.

A large retail trade helps make the township one of the wealthiest in the county, with Fairlane Village mall, Kings Village and the Pottsville Park Plaza all located within its borders.
