Grove was summer hot spot
A farming community, Barry Township was organized in 1821, formed from parts of Norwegian and Schuylkill townships.

Beury’s Grove was a noted summer tourist attraction earlier this century. A lake, surrounded by cabins, provided swimming and other recreational activities. Many of the facilities — including the lake — are still there today.
